What is Meditation and Breath?
Meditation is relaxation, alertness leading to focus to become centered and therefore self - focused. After completing a meditation you will notice that you are calm, present and happy. You will notice that time was irrelevant in the meditation. The eyes must be closed so that your focus can be inside rather than on the outside world.

The Breath
When we breath fully and deeply, the breath moves our body in 3 ways consecutively:
1st. The stomach expand front or to the sides
2nd. The ribs expand to the sides
3rd. The collar bone first lifts up then out

Basics of Meditation
Must be seated, you will fall asleep if you lie down.
All breath is through the nose as it acts as a filter and it forces you to breath slower. Close eyes. Sit with palms open and facing up.
When thoughts enter during meditation, acknowledge them and return to your breath. Let go and allow your body to relax.

Meditation is a way in which we can connect with all parts of self…mind, body, spirit. It is done through connecting with our breathing and allowing ourselves to relax. Meditation is the process that we can use for connecting with out inner self, our spirit. Also it opens up that opportunity for us to connect to any spiritual guidance we may need from the higher planes of consciousness. In the beginning it is good to start with some guided meditations to assist you.

How Do I Meditate?
There is no right or wrong way meditate, but often the most common complaint is that people can't relax or turn their mind off. Learning breathing techniques is a way that helps people to begin to relax and to learn to listen to their bodies. When your focus is only on your breathing, not everything else…the mind clutter begins to fade away.
Here are a few techniques/tips that you may find useful in starting your meditation practice:
Begin by making meditation a part of your daily routine.
Schedule a time for it.  Generally, It is good to aim for the morning as it is an excellent way to start your day.  Experiment with when it will best fit into your day.
It is also a good idea to have a separate area in your home that is designated just for meditation. This can be as simple as having a special chair. Whatever works for you, begin to create a sacred space where you automatically know that this area is only for you.
Use your senses to help you connect with meditation and quieting the mind. Some examples are: bells or chimes, scented oils for relaxation, candles, music, crystals.
Start to think about some goals for your meditation practice. What is it that you would like to focus on? How would you like to improve yourself?
A good idea is to keep a journal to record any insights from your meditations.

What Should I Be Meditating On?
The list for this question is endless! You are free to meditate whatever you choose to focus your intent on. Intention is of most importance here. It is a good practice to get into setting your intention before each meditation, as it gives you a clear direction. Also, clearly stated intentions act as an announcement to the spirit realm. (they love it when you are specific!) For those that are interested in beginning their meditation practice, here are some places to start:
v  A clearing meditation to clear negative energy
v  Strengthening your aura
v  A color meditation for your chakras
v  Meditation for peace/ prayers for peace
v  Meditation to raise your core vibration or energy level
v  A grounding meditation (to help you become more present & focused)
v  A meditation to access your spiritual guides
